One week into school and it seems that we are all talking about relaxing in the blogging (and ERL 544) world. Here is how I managed today:
Picture 1: Solo bike ride from my house down to Wells Beach early in the morning - so peaceful
Picture 2: Meeting my father later in the morning for our traditional Sunday ride - I wouldn't miss these rides for the world. They are my favorite way to spend time with my dad. We rode all around York (where my parents live) and up to the Nubble Light House.
Picture 3: Stopping at my parents to play with their cats (they were originally kittens that I fostered during college and my parents fell in love with them. My husband and I do not have any of our own...yet). Both cats are more "dog-like" and love to play fetch. I spent a good half hour sitting in the sun on the walkway, drinking coffee and tossing acorns for them to chase.
Now, into the evening, I've packed and arranged lunches for the week, figured out our work schedules, and am now on to the task of grading pre-tests and planning tomorrow's lesson - luckily I've got cookies to keep me relaxed.
You're right - there are lots of relaxation-oriented posts! Funny. Great shots! Sounds like a great biking tradition on Sundays with your dad!
ReplyDeleteIt's comforting to know that we all face similar stresses. I wish I had more time to relax these days!
DeleteYes, the biking is wonderful - anything to spend time with my dad. Truthfully, we had quite the altercation with an out of state car this past Sunday, proving not to be relaxing at the time; however, overall the ride was good.
What beautiful kitties. I am currently kitty-less. This has not happened for years! One of my students has a pregnant cat, and I have already put dibs on two of the kittens. I did not know that cats could be trained to play fetch, but I plan to teach this to my new kittens.
ReplyDeleteWhen is your student's cat due?! I'm tempted to put dibs on kittens too. I think Brock and I will foster in the very near future (just like I did when we were in class together) and we will end up adopting some. We figure that by fostering we can test the waters and also help many kitties find homes and then settle when we're ready.
DeleteMy parent's cats are something else - the fetch is truly fetch, they return with the items better than some dogs I know!
